Sprinkler systems are the most commonly used, automatic fire extinguishing systems, because of their simple and effective operation. A sprinkler system consists of water supply, alarm valves and a pipework with sprinklers, which is installed throughout the building. The installation is monitored by a sprinkler alarm centre. The system comes into operation when a certain temperature is reached. The water then sprays over the fire like a shower.
